Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, stages a plot to seize control of Gotham’s underworld. Aside from a bat-signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got our hands on Robert Pattinson’s costume in The Penguin. In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer the question: where the hell was Batman? However, his own series portrays the character as a casual tobacco user who prefers to smoke a cigar.
Pharrell steals this episode
The DC Studios logo is set in a drizzly Gotham alley. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros logo. Graham Norton and his guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). He’s amazing.
There’s nothing cartoonish about it
There’s nothing about the character that would suggest Farrell. The New York accent, the sway and the limp, the attitude: you’d swear it was a different person. The amazing prosthetics are so realistic and complement the character. The performance is gritty and graphic.
It’s well-written and tight
It’s a great equivalent of Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I’d say it blows the Marvel line out of the water. I hope it gets a season 2, but I know it’s limited. Shame.
